Paul Davies Web Maintenance Computer Aided Design

Paul embarked on his professional journey as a draughtsman and architectural technician, contributing his skills to Macintosh, Haines & Kennedy in Croydon, now known as Howard : Fairbairn : MHK Chartered Architects. His responsibilities spanned the entire spectrum of building projects, from the meticulous planning and detailed construction drawings to tendering and overseeing building sites. Little did he know that a technological revolution was on the horizon that would redefine his career.

In 1984, the advent of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) marked a turning point for Paul. His natural affinity for computers quickly became apparent as CAD streamlined the processes involved in multi million pound contracts in Surrey Quays, London SE16. Paul's adeptness with CAD systems became a valuable asset, opening doors to new opportunities and industries.

Transitioning to Vistec Business Systems, Paul delved deeper into the world of computers and networks. His tenure with Vistec not only enhanced his understanding of CAD systems but also laid the foundation for his expertise in computer technology.

Paul's journey took an exciting turn as he joined the property department at the London Stock Exchange. Here, he played a crucial role in unifying disparate CAD systems and drawing styles into a cohesive framework. Recognising the limitations of the existing Local Area Network (LAN), Paul spearheaded the establishment of a Wide Area Network (WAN), spanning multiple buildings in the City of London. His contributions extended to integrating the property department's LAN with the Exchange's main network, facilitating seamless communication between departments.

As the IT manager at Druces Solicitors, Paul's responsibilities encompassed a broad spectrum of technology-related aspects, from computers and networks to telephones and photocopiers. His achievements included significant upgrade projects, such as transitioning from Windows XP and Office 2003 to Windows 7 and Office 2013, replacing the Firm's Practice Management System with SOS Connect from Solicitors Own Software, migrating software to a hosted environment with Nasstar, and Consulting on and moving the Computer Room during an Office Refurbishment project.

Paul now concentrates on web design and maintenance for small businesses and CAD projects, He also works with Keystroke Associates, providing training and support for home users. His wealth of experience and technological prowess positions him as a valuable resource for individuals and businesses navigating the complexities of the digital landscape. Paul's journey is a testament to the transformative power of embracing technology, from the early days of CAD to his current endeavors in web design and IT support. His story reflects a continuous commitment to innovation, adaptability, and the seamless integration of technology into diverse professional landscapes.
